For the last two years, he has been an unwilling passenger on a fleet of space ships, bouncing from planet to planet. In that time, he has taken the opportunity to sharpen his sharpshooting skills and focus on photography. While he has gained many friends, he has also had to cope with the on and off loss of his companions from home. He has found acceptance and support, even when his friends, new and old, have learned some of his darkest secrets. The greatest source of support has been Kaname Buccaneer, his girlfriend of over a year. This has instilled in him a greater confidence going forward.

❥ Personality: Prompto presents himself as a lovable goofball. Even with the world falling down around them, he tries to remain upbeat and positive and lift the spirits of his friends. He is easily distracted and excitable, constantly in motion, thus appearing very childish at times. It doesn't help that he's also prone to tripping over his own feet and whining when in situations he'd rather not be. Even when afraid, however, he will follow his friends and lend his support. He is fiercely loyal and supportive. When Ignis lost his sights, Prompto remained at his side, guiding and defending his friend.

As a child, Prompto was overweight, lonely, and shy. His parents were largely absent and he had no friends. It wasn't until Luna encouraged him to befriend Noctis via letter that he worked up the nerve to approach the prince. The first meeting didn't go well, as he tripped and fell. Noctis took his hand to help him up, but mentioned he was "heavy". Prompto felt he needed to make himself worthy of the prince's friendship and worked hard to change his diet and run every day in order to lose weight. After years of self-discipline and dedication to this goal, he finally felt he could approach Noctis. His disposition, upon their second meeting, was more open and upbeat. Never once did he regard Noct as a prince, instead choosing to treat his friend like any regular person. He is still subject to moments of stuttering bashfulness, particularly in the presence of beautiful people, namely Cindy.

He later confesses to Noctis that that happy-go-lucky personality isn’t the real Prompto. He tries to be what he believes others want him to be, rather then what he wants to be. He is the only member of their little circle who is of common birth, and has far less training. He is clumsy and insecure. Because of this, he feels inadequate and struggles with self-doubt. He wants more than anything to prove his worth and show that he belongs. This is coupled with fears stemming from his birthplace and the bar code on his wrist, which he has kept secret all his life. Though he was adopted by a Lucian couple at a very young age, he worried how his friends will react to his Niflheim heritage. Fortunately, they accepted him.
