[He's caught off guard by the question. He'd already forgotten about that.]

Yeah. Yeah, I'm fine. Toes got tangled. You know how it is.

[She really doesn't, but it does make her smile. He gets lightly nudged with her elbow. Why isn't his arm around her yet?]

Do you want to ask, or will you start us off?

[He's nervous! He laughs weakly.]

I didn't mean to say it like that.

[That probably answers her first question, but she wants to be sure. So Kaname looks over at him curiously.]

But you wanted to say it?

We'll...yeah! Just, better. I thought there'd be flowers. Or a sunset.

[axi]

[Well all right then. Kaname can feel her face getting a little warm, but she's smiling.]

There's always another time. [She leans and rests her head on his shoulder.]

[But there will never be another first time.

Though this did, kinda, relieve some of the stress over how and when to say it, even if it wasn't perfect.

He gets his arm around her shoulders and plants a kiss on the top of her head.]

[Kaname says it with ease, surprising even herself. It feels natural in a way.

Her smile's a sort of shy one as she snuggles closer to him.]

[It's not something he's used to hearing. It's time for a big hug.]

I don't know what I did to deserve you.

[A chuckle escapes her, and she angles her head to kiss him where she can. It happens to be the side of his chin.]

It has nothing to do with that. You make me happy, and that's the simplest way I can put it. Do you want me to elaborate more? [Kaname's only half joking. She will if he wants her to.]

[He laughs at the kiss, and returns it to her forehead.]

Better not. I'll turn all red. And ... and I wanna take a picture!

I'm still considering it. Red's a good color on you.

[For once, regarding the picture, Kaname shakes her head. She moves from his side to his lap, positioning herself to face him, a leg on either side oh his. Her arms rest on his shoulders as she smiles.]

I wanted to see your face this time. [Leaning in a little bit, she says it again.] I love you.

[No? No picture? That seems very unfair.

But probably for the best because his face flushes a moment later, though he's positively beaming. He has to fight the urge to pull her closer so he can hide his face.]

[He didn't get to say it properly before.]

[Actually, yes picture! Except Kaname's snagging his camera and snapping a shot of his wonderfully red beaming smile.]

I get to keep this one. [She leans forward and kisses his forehead right between his brows.]

[That smile quickly morphs to surprise. And then a laugh at the kiss.]

I think right now you'd probably give me your camera if I asked.

[Of course she never would, but teasing him about it is just as fun. Still sitting on his lap and facing him, Kaname's expression grows a little more serious.]

You know, I wanted to tell you when I went to speak with you after everything that happened last month.

[The final thing she's been keeping from him.]

You wouldn't dare.

[That is his camera, the most sacred of possessions. Don't even joke! (He probably would give it to her, though.)]

Wh-- You did? [And he'd gone and ruined everything.] S-sorry...

No, I wouldn't.

[His apology has her shaking her head, smile softening. She moves one hand so her fingers can tangle in his hair.]

I did, but don't apologize, we've already moved past that. I'm telling you so you know I've been thinking about it, too. [Kaname leans forward and relaxes against him, head resting in the crook of his neck. Her hand moves from his hair to rest on his chest opposite her.]

I'm really happy right now.

[this_loser]

[He almost apologizes again, but presses his lips shut. It's easy to get his arms around her like this, and he snuggles down into a more comfortable position.]

Me, too. Like, happier than I've been in a long time.

[axi]

[Her chuckle can be felt against him, and she hums a little.]

Good, I don't want to be the only one. [Idly, she starts to draw little patterns on his shirt with her finger.]

If you ever decide you want to, just know I'd love to have you on my ship.

R-really?

[He's both baffled and elated. That sobers pretty quickly, however.]

I - That would be ... amazing. But ... I mean, I know Noct can take care of himself just fine. But with Iggy and Gladio not here, I feel like I should stay where I am...

Of course. [If he wasn't himself, she'd be surprised she has to say it. Still, it's endearing in a way. Kaname kisses the underside of his chin. Being held by him is absolutely wonderful for her.]

I know, and that's why I'm not requesting you transfer. I just wanted you to know you'd absolutely be welcomed there. Honestly, your dedication is one of the things that has me feeling the way I do.

[Y'know. The whole loving him thing.]

It means a lot. That you'd want me there. [He needs to scoot down a bit, so she can kiss more than his chin. And he can kiss more than the top of her head.] Thanks for understanding.

Just because I understand doesn't meant I'm not a little disappointed you know. [Kaname's still smiling, scooting with him to make it difficult on purpose.]

I do want you with me. In the past couple weeks, I've noticed I sleep better with you there, too. You're sort of stuck now.

I'm sorry. [He's going to keep scooting until he either gets what he wants, or they fall off the bed.] We can have all the sleep-overs, though.
