[He hums, but can't come up with any ideas of his own. It certainly wasn't a promise to him. So...who? And why?]
I dunno, I think he's more direct than that.
[Though to does bring to mind a silly conversation a while back, something about coping mechanisms and stuffed animals. Hadn't Verstael mentioned a tool set?]
[Not that he'd pushed very hard- his concern had been Prompto's safety and getting the guy to say his damned name properly. A harmless gift, even a strange one out of the blue, isn't his business unless Prompto decides that it is.]
[He thinks about the question while gathering up the tools and putting them back in the box.]
I don't know... I still think he's weird. And really frustrating to talk to. I'm not like, going out of my way to hang out with him or anything. But...I'm not going out of my way to avoid him either. Does that make sense?
[He'd had a similar feeling with Ardyn, a little initially, and a lot lately, even knowing it isn't exactly the same man. In some ways, neither is Besithia. It's still kind of weird for him to parse, and there's pain as well for sure, but in the latter's case it must be less cut-and-dry for Prompto. At some point in his life Besithia made a choice to become what he ended up as, while Ardyn had the hand of fate and Ifrit to at least in part thank for Izunia's twisted existence. Even Besithia himself is aware of that now.]
You ever think about how weird it is that we both ended up related to our own supervillains?
[It's a small offering and not one he'd expect Prompto to accept, considering the personal nature of the discussion and his own extra-biased opinion of Niffs, but he'd be a lousy friend if he didn't at least extend one.
What's extra weird is that the offer isn't for safety. It would be monumentally stupid for Besithia to try anything, but that hadn't stopped him from being on edge any time they were around one another. This time, for Prompto, it might actually be okay.]

I guess I'll just have to ask him.

What do you think about him these days?

Can't believe he asked you to deliver it.

Dude! I didn't before, but now that's going to be the only thing I think about.
[He blows out a breath, grabs the box, and rolls to his feet.]
Alright. Guess I should get this over with.

[He doesn't sound especially apologetic; if he has to live with that crazy thought, Prompto does too. That's what BFFs are for.
His expression does sober as Prompto straightens up.]
Gonna go see him?
