Mhm. [Her hands move to rest on his shoulders with her fingertips pressing slightly against his collarbone. The second kiss has her humming a little in happiness and protesting somewhat when it ends. She sighs against him with an eventual chuckle.]
You're making me very much regret not properly wishing you a happy birthday this morning. [It's obvious to both what she means as she plants another quick kiss on his jaw.] But there's more time for that later.
[While Kaname doesn't make a move at all towards removing herself from his hold, she does finally answer his question.]

[He buries a soft smile in her shoulder, shaking his head.] It's okay. I know you've been going through stuff. [He was in favor of more later, however.]
No, I didn't think that. You didn't have to do anything, though. [Even so, the anticipation is rolling of him.]

[For emphasis, Kaname kisses him once more then reluctantly pulls away to go around the other side of the workshop.]
Just like you didn't have to do anything for mine. [There's definite humor in her words, knowing full well there's no argument to convince her otherwise.]
Over here. We've got a little less than an hour to test it and figure out what adjustments need to be made before the owner comes back from lunch.
[On a work table in the back sits a weapon with a circular saw, very similar to the one he had at home, almost like the craftsman had pictures to work from. There might be a reason for that.]
[Arguing is pointless, but he has to put in a token effort as he follows her around the workshop.]

[The curiosity evaporates. He knows that weapon. It's only when he looks closer and runs his hands over the casing that he starts to pick little differences. Little dents and scratches from use are absent, as is the barcode - similar to his own - that proclaimed it from Niflheim.
What does he think? He grabs her in the biggest hug ever.] I love it. [And a kiss.] I love you. Thank you. How...?
Half birthday. [Clarification is pointless when he sees his present, so Kaname falls silent when he looks it over. While pretty certain it's correct, she does remain quiet until he reacts... with a sweeping hug.
She (almost) squeaks in surprise as her feet leave the ground for a moment. It soon turns into laugher. The kiss is met with welcome enthusiasm despite how quick it is.]
Mm, love you, too. [Grinning, Kaname takes a step back and reaches behind the weapon to pull out some familiar looking photos that Prompto took back home.]
[A birthday is a birthday, and he didn't particularly care for his. Though Kaname was changing his mind about the value of celebrating. She was spoiling him.
He takes the photos and glances over them, already aware of what each one is.] Hah. Sneaky.
Well, it looks like they got the look of it down. Is it functional too?

[She nudges him a little, indicating he should turn around. Behind them is an obvious testing site with different scraps of metal and plastic and different materials positioned upright at an angle for him to work against.]
Tell me any differences or issues in how it feels, and I'll leave notes for the owner. What do you say?
[And because she can, before Prompto picks it up to start testing, Kaname's back in front of him, arms around his shoulders once more.]
You can try, but I'm not so easy to impress. [She gives him a quick kiss on the lips before stepping back.] It's more about finding anything that needs correcting, since the inside mechanics were all guess work.
[Kaname nudges him lightly with a side glance.] But if you manage to put on a good show, I won't complain.
[Hopping up on the table where the machine is, she looks at him.]
He grips the handles and hefts the weapon up and off the table. The weight is different, but that's to be expected. It's not enough to throw him off. He finds the start switch, and with the weapon angled away from the both, fires it up.
It's been a while since he's handled one of these. It's one of the few weapons he had back home that wasn't some kind of projectile, and far more unwieldy. But the circular saw unfolds and whirs to life.
Despite keeping up with his workout routine, he finds it heavy and cumbersome - much like how it was when they first found it at the Norduscaen blockade. But as he walks it over to the testing area, it's like jumping back on a bike. Muscle memory takes over from there, jabbing, swiping, and arching through the targets.
When he returns to her, he's panting and glistening with sweat, but very happy.]
It's great. The saw needs a harder stop so it can retract faster. A kill switch wouldn't hurt. I'm not going to be able to drop it in the armiger even if it's still spinning, and it's going to slow me down if I need to switch up in the middle of a fight.
[Through his movements and testing, Kaname watches him closely, taking mental notes herself of how the weapon actually performs in a fight. The idea was strange to her and still sort of is, but observing him clues her in enough.
Somehow, it's a little like seeing him in his element, or what she imagines that would be like. A smile crosses her face. Any pretense of pretending to not be impressed or interested is long gone in favor of simply watching.
When he's back, worn out from the routine, and the weapon is back on the table, Kaname slides off and looks him over with an appreciative glance, one she's very aware he'll notice.]
I'll let him know. [That aside, she goes closer and kisses him on the cheek.]
[He grins and refrains from hugging her - because sweat. But he's so incredibly happy. (And yes, he did notice that glance. He's too excited and breathless to respond in kind.)]
[Seeing him this happy and excited is wonderful. She feels like she chose well, and that makes everything even more worth it. Kaname can't help her own smile as she holds out her arms for him to hug her and swing her around or whatever he wants to do.]
[Kaname accepts the hug, squeezing him back with a kiss to his temple. Then she pulls back with a cheeky smile.]
Are you out of practice? Maybe you're getting a little soft with how spoiled you've become. [He gets a quick peck on the lips.] I think I should take some responsibility for that.
